# Meet your AI Receptionist

Learn what the AI Receptionist does and how it fits into the way your numbers handle calls.

The AI Receptionist is an AI voice agent that answers calls on your LimePhone numbers when you can't. Instead of sending callers to voicemail, it picks up, greets them, and holds a natural conversation — answering questions about your business, taking messages, and capturing the caller's name, reason for calling, and contact details.

## What it does

* **Answers calls on your numbers** when you don't — for example when you're unavailable or outside your business hours. It's on duty 24/7 and speaks 20+ languages.
* **Converses naturally.** Callers can ask questions in their own words; the receptionist responds using the business information you've given it.
* **Takes messages and captures caller details** so you can follow up.
* **Logs everything.** After each call, the transcript and summary appear in two places: the AI Receptionist page's **Recent calls** feed (summary, outcome, and duration at a glance) and **Call Logs**, alongside your regular call history.

## On the AI Receptionist page

Each agent has:

* A **Live / Paused toggle** to turn it on or off instantly.
* A **Talk to \<name>** button for an instant test call right in your browser.
* **Per-agent stats** — calls handled, minutes used, and when it was last active.

You can run **multiple agents** (for example one for sales, one for support), and start from a **Templates** gallery instead of building from scratch.

The AI Receptionist is included on plans with AI voice; on other plans you'll see a locked preview until you upgrade.

## How it works with forwarding and voicemail

The AI Receptionist works alongside your existing call handling, it doesn't replace it. Your numbers can still forward calls to you or your team first; the receptionist steps in when nobody answers, when you're marked unavailable, or when a call arrives outside business hours. Think of it as an upgrade to voicemail: callers get answers and you get a structured summary instead of a missed call.

## Where to configure it

Everything lives under **AI Receptionist** in the left sidebar of [dashboard.limephone.io](https://dashboard.limephone.io). From there you create and configure agents and connect them to your numbers.
