Test your AI Receptionist

Run real test calls, review what the AI actually said, and tighten its instructions until you'd trust it with a customer.

Never let a receptionist take its first real call untested. Testing takes five minutes and catches wrong answers, awkward greetings, and missing knowledge before a caller does.

Test in your browser

The fastest loop is the built-in browser test:

  1. Open AI Receptionist at dashboard.limephone.io.

  2. On the agent's card, click Talk to <name>. A test call starts right in your browser — no phone needed. Make sure the agent's toggle is set to Live.

  3. Talk to it like a stranger would: ask what the business does, your hours, your prices, and one question you haven't trained it on.

  4. Ask it to take a message, and give a name and callback number.

Test over the phone

Browser tests check the brain; a phone call checks the whole path — number, routing, and audio quality:

  1. From a different phone, call the number connected to the agent.

  2. Let it ring through to the receptionist (if the number rings you first, don't answer — the AI should step in per your availability and business-hours setup).

  3. Have the same conversation as above and hang up normally.

If the AI never picks up, check that the agent is Live, that the number is connected to it, and see Call issues.

Review the call

Open Call Logs in the sidebar and find your test call. Check three things:

  • Recording — does the voice, pace, and greeting sound right?

  • Transcript — did it answer accurately, and admit uncertainty instead of inventing facts?

  • AI summary — did it capture your name, number, and reason for calling correctly?

The Recent calls feed on the AI Receptionist page shows the same calls at a glance — summary, outcome, and duration. See Call Logs & activity for the full review workflow.

Iterate

For every wrong or missing answer:

  1. Click Edit on the agent and fix the instructions or greeting — or add the missing fact to its knowledge and to Settings → Business info.

  2. Save. Changes apply to the next call immediately.

  3. Test again, asking the exact question it fumbled.

Two or three rounds is normal. Re-test whenever you change instructions, knowledge, voice, or business hours — and once a month, call your own number and listen as a customer would. Details on what to feed it: Train your AI Receptionist.
