Voicemails

Find, listen to, and get notified about the voicemails callers leave on your numbers.

When callers reach voicemail

A caller reaches voicemail when nobody (and no AI Receptionist) answers. Voicemail is set up per phone number in Settings → Phone numbers (select the number to edit it) — turn it on or off and set the greeting, either as text-to-speech or an uploaded MP3/WAV recording. How long a number rings before voicemail picks up is part of that number's Call routing settings. See Voicemail for setup.

The Visual Voicemail page

The dedicated voicemail view lives at dashboard.limephone.io/voicemails — there's no sidebar entry yet, so open that URL directly. At the top you get counters for New, Read, and Archived messages; below, the full list. There you can:

  • Play each voicemail — playing a new message automatically marks it read — and read its transcription.

  • Search by caller name, phone number, or any words in the transcription.

  • Filter by status (new / read / archived) and by date (today, this week, this month).

  • Work in bulk — select several (or select all) and Mark Read, Archive, or Delete them together.

Deleting is permanent; archiving just moves a message out of the active list, and archived messages remain searchable under the archived filter.

Voicemails also appear in

  • Call Logs — filter the call history by voicemail status to see them alongside the rest of your calls. From a voicemail's entry you can play the recording, call the person back, or send them a text. See Call Logs & Activity.

  • Activity — new voicemails show up in your Activity feed, alongside missed calls and new texts.

Notifications

New-voicemail alerts follow your personal notification preferences — configure email, SMS, and push channels in Settings → Notifications (under Your account).

FAQ

A voicemail has no transcription — why? Transcription can be disabled in that number's voicemail settings, and very short, silent, or poor-audio messages may not produce a useful transcript. The recording itself is still there to play.

Does opening the page mark everything read? No — a voicemail is marked read when you play it (or when you select it and use Mark Read). The New counter only drops as you actually listen.

Can I get a voicemail back after deleting it? No — delete is permanent. If you might need a message later, Archive it instead; it stays searchable and playable.

Callers say they can't leave a message. Check that voicemail is enabled on the number they called (Settings → Phone numbers → select the number), and that calls aren't being forwarded to an external phone whose own voicemail picks up first.
