My caller ID name (CNAM) is not working

If you have set your outgoing caller ID name (CNAM) on your LimePhone number but your clients are reporting that it's not displaying correctly, there are a few factors to consider.

Here's a guide to help you understand what might be happening:

  1. Carrier policies:

    • Each carrier has its own policies regarding caller ID. While LimePhone submits your information to caller ID databases, we cannot guarantee that it will display correctly every time for everyone. Some carriers may not update their CNAM databases regularly or may not query them at all, leading to incorrect or missing caller ID information.

  2. Verification of caller ID:

    • You can verify whether your caller ID name submission has been correctly configured by using third-party websites like calleridtest.com. These websites can show you the caller ID information associated with your phone number.

  3. Canadian phone numbers and toll-free numbers:

    • Canadian carriers may not automatically update their CNAM databases, which can result in incorrect caller ID display for some Canadian carriers. Additionally, CNAM names may not display at all depending on the carriers for Canadian numbers.

    • Toll-Free numbers are primarily designed to receive calls and not make outgoing calls. As a result, CNAM listings are not maintained for Toll-Free numbers, and they cannot be used for outgoing caller ID.

Please note that if you don't have a custom caller ID set up or if a carrier doesn't perform a caller ID lookup, your LimePhone number will show up as the caller ID to the people you call.
