Troubleshooting call audio static and other audio interference

If you or the person you're talking to is experiencing call static, audio interference, or background noise during your calls, there are several possible solutions to address these issues. Here's a guide to help diagnose and resolve call static problems:

Hardware/Device:

  • Disable speakerphone functionality and talk directly into the handset to avoid audio interference.

  • Try using a headset or a separate microphone, as they can often provide better audio quality.

  • Adjust the placement of your device to ensure it is not experiencing any physical interference.

  • If possible, try using a different computer or mobile device to see if the static persists.

Jitter (Connection Issue): If the above steps do not resolve the call static issue, it's possible that the problem is related to your internet connection and jitter. Jitter indicates a connection issue that affects the transmission of audio data packets during calls. Here are some steps to address jitter:

Your Internet Connection:

  • Reset your router if you are using WiFi.

  • Switch to a different internet source, such as switching from WiFi to mobile data or vice versa, to see if it improves the call quality.

Your Device:

  • Close any CPU-intensive programs running in the background, as they can impact call quality.

  • Try switching between mobile and desktop devices to determine if one provides better call quality than the other.

  • Completely power down and restart your device to reset any potential software issues.

If these steps do not resolve the call static problem, it may be necessary to investigate further. If the issue is occurring with only one specific contact, it's possible that the problem lies on their end.

For all other call static issues, you can submit a request to the appropriate support channel with the following information:

  • Your LimePhone phone number

  • Three phone numbers you were on a call with when the issue occurred

  • The approximate date and time of the call

  • The LimePhone app you were using (Android App, browser, desktop, dialer)

  • The device you were using for the call

  • Specify if the call static occurred throughout the entire call or only intermittently.

By providing this information, LimePhone support can further investigate the issue and assist you in resolving the call quality problems.
